ABOUT
Multiple award-winning pianist Claudia Hu has received numerous prizes from international competitions and has appeared at prestigious concert halls throughout the US and Europe. She has performed at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, Vianden Castle in Luxembourg, and the Carme Contemporary Culture Centre in Spain.
In July 2024, Claudia received the Chris Egerton Scholarship from the Gijon Piano Festival (Spain). She was featured in multiple concerts in Gijon, including a sold-out performance at Universidad Laboral. In 2023, Claudia received the Second Prize from the International Piano Competition at the Valencia International Performance Academy (Spain). In December 2021, she received the 1st prize in the Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition and performed at Parco Della Musica Auditorium in Rome, Italy. She also received the Gold Prize in the 2021 Global International Music Competition. In June 2021, Claudia gave the world premiere of music by Hyung-ki Joo in The Oculus at the World Trade Center to celebrate the re-opening of New York City post-Covid. She was also named as a national finalist in the 2020-2021 Piano Performance Competition of the American Prize and received the Bronze Hands Award in the 2021 Carles & Sofia International Piano Competition.
Claudia has been featured as a soloist performing multiple concertos, including Mozart Piano Concerto No.12 in A Major, K.414 with the Plainfield Symphony Orchestra in 2014 under
the direction of Charles Prince, as well as Beethoven Concerto No. 3 in C Minor, Mozart Concerto No. 20, K.466 in D Minor, and J.S. Bach Concerto in F minor, BWV 1056 with conductor Pietro Perini and Orchestra Sinfonica del Festival di Chioggia in Italy.
She has also been the recipient of multiple scholarships from various competitions and festivals, including the Eric John Bundy Memorial Fund Piano Trio Scholarship from The Rocky Ridge Music Center in Estes Park, Colorado (2017) and the New Jersey State Teachers Association High School Scholarship Competition (2015).
Claudia received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Classical Piano Performance from the Manhattan School of Music (‘20, ’22), where she studied with Nina Svetlanova and Marc Silverman. She is currently based in New York City and successfully runs a private teaching studio.
